I was thinking in terms of insurance and whether I should be looking to pick up a bastard '71S.
Seems what you say is reasonable. Although value wise, it doesn't sound like the S engine is that much more valuable than a T engine without a car to go into. In other words values are more about the right car with the right engine, than the engine itself.
