My version of winning the lotto;
Some years ago, Toyota ran a end of year add campaign selling their 4cl Landcruiser Prado. I'd been into the local dealer earlier that week on a day off doing some tyre kicking and just so happened, I ended up with a quote for a V6 Prado. The price was a bit out of my reach at the time so it was just filed away.
The add for the 4cl got my attention and because I'd just done this research, something wasn't quite right about it as I thought I saw a misprint in the obligatory fine print at the end of the add. So I got orgainsed and recorded the add. Scrutinising the add with extreme scrute, the fine print actually said that the advertised price was for the V6 model and that no conditions applied. Whoohoo! This was now within the budget - about $10K less than the quote.
The next day I went to the dealer with the recorded add and told them I'll have the V6 for their advertised price. The shock on the dealers faces was priceless
Had a brief meeting with the dealer principal and the Toyota state manager on the final day of the add campaign at COB. This was so that I couldn't tell the world at the time and thus they wouldn't have more punters on their door for the same reason.
The first thing they did was confirm I was serious (bloody oath I was) about the offer, and next I was told I was the luckiest person in Oz. No one else had spotted the error in the add so they were going to honor the terms of the add. This also meant that I could have any colour and trans option (as the add said 'no conditions apply').
The next working day we picked up our new lotto win.
