I have a 924S it is a great car. It is a 944 motor with 924 interior and body. The power is the same as a 944. They say the car is faster because the 924 body is lighter than the 944 body but has the same power as a 944. The power-train in mine is a 5 speed and I think its the same as a 944 but im not sure. It sure shifts and feels the same. I do believe you can bolt on the front fenders from a 944 to a 924S but im not sure. The front impact bumper can also be swapped I think. 924S's are rare I would not change mine even if I could. If you like the shape of a 944 you can get a running one for 2K no problem. If you get this car I would keep it the way it is, if you want a 944 get one. One of my biggest issues with the 924S is with the electrical system. It seems as if they used 924 electronics (speedo tach etc) but 944 engine management so some of the wiring changes colors at some of the connectors making trouble shooting electric issues kinda tough some times. Other than that my 924S was and still is a great car, I will admit it was my first Porsche so I am a bit bias to it.
Regards
Dave
