Scott Forstall (iOS) fired. Jon Ives now heads all human interface, software and hardware. Eddy Cue takes over Siri and Maps. New head of Retail fired.

Good news I think.

I was talking with a friend a couple weeks ago, about the latest Mac OS and iOS. We were saying that if a f-up like Maps had happened on Steve Jobs' watch, the team would have been publicly ripped a new one and the leader fired. (My friend once worked with Jobs, not at Apple.). We thought it was a bad sign that Cook was too weak to do the same.

Appears we were wrong, and that is good.

(I have declined to upgrade to iOS 6 or to OS X 10.7 [correction], so I don't have personal experience with the issues. My friend was furious about some changes in 10.7.)
