We've had Santa Anas the past week or so but I didn't get into the surf. I did get wet however. Last Wed I did lessons on an RS Vision. As luck would have it, the winds were a solid 10-15 knots, gusting over 20 knots. Whitecaps in the marina. My instructor said, "well, if you can learn under these conditions, you'll be fine." Normally we would do capsize drills as part of the training. As it turns out, we didn't need to try very hard - capsized 3x, one of those the boat turtled. Recovered quickly, and we headed back to the dock haflway through to reef the sails. Hopefully will finish certification tomorrow under less crazy conditions...
