If you go with the argument that it's difficult to become an NFL quarterback based on going form high school through college then tennis is much more difficult. The last time that an NCAA champion tennis player broke into the top 100 on the ATP tour was in the late 90s (Andy Roddick), before that you have to go back to the 1980s. Most of the top 500 players in the world skip college tennis all together because the level of competition is just too low.
Its hard to get an idea of how fast the ball moves form watching tennis on TV. To see it in person will give you a whole new appreciation.
