I picked up an 86 Carrera that was tight all over except for the shifter. In the words of Borat, she was loose like sleeve of wizard.
It had a factory short shift kit so I didn't have to spend money there, but replacing all of the front bushings, Ed's rear coupler and the Seine Gate Shifter kit and the car was transformed. I mean it's still a 915 transmission but at least I'm no longer "guessing" about which gear I'm engaging.
Well under two hundred for all of the parts, and perhaps five or six hours of labor and that was because I wanted to polish my shift base into a nice shinny aluminum piece.
