Window switch repair

I have purchased 3 new switches of the 4 in the center console. I opened up two of the old ones. You can gently pry open one side to release the little tabs holding the body of the switch in the plastic housing with a small flat bade screw driver.

After checking the continuity I discovered a common problem. It appears as the bottom contacts wear or heat up, the moveable lever (contact) hits the plastic base keeping it from making contact as you push down. By removing some of the plastic from the side body with a razor, just enough, you can make the contact work again. Considering the cost of these, one can still keep them working. If you open one and look you will see what I am trying to explain. You might need a magnifying glass to examine it.

Sorry my camera will not take a better picture, but the pencil points to the area, basically the contact nearest the wires when in the closed position. You can push the little spring by hand to operate them. What the switch does is reverse polarity to the motors. Green and Black are motor contacts, Red + and Brown - power.

So don't throw out your old switches. You may still fix and keep them in reserve.
