We had a storm related fatality in our neighborhood last week. Last Tuesday evening, one of our neighbors was doing some chainsaw work at the house across the street, for some other neighbors. He was cutting up a downed tree, and wound up cutting something that was pinning a limb that was under tension.
The limb released, and hit him on the side of his face. The backyard became a sea of rescue squads, EMS, and state police, and they wound up having him medevaced to a hospital with power. It wasn't a pretty sight from what I was told, and he was taken off of life support the next day. Pieces of his skull were imbedded in his brain, and there was nothing they could do for him.
He was a good guy, and would go out of his way to help anyone. It really made a depressed post storm mood even worse last week.
