Anybody ever repair the foam when installing new seat covers in your car?

Anybody ever repair the foam when installing new seat covers in your car?

On my 2001 Ford F150, the driver side seat has a worn spot through the leather and into the foam, creating a hole 3"-4" wide by 5"-6" and 2" deep. New foam is not available from Ford, so I'm looking to repair it. My only thought is to cut out and build it back up with new foam, using 3M spray adhesive.

Thoughts?
