I said above that it was probably the jelly fitting inside the receiver. Most of the time the male latch part is okay. My car for instance broke the jelly fitting when I had to manually open the rear with no key. It was right after I bought the car. After the fitting was put back in, the latch worked like new. Both of my cars just needed the jelly fitting, but I couldn't find the jelly fitting without having to buy the whole $100 receiver. I've bought too many worn out and broken parts from Ebay to go that route. You can inspect the part in the picture above and see if it's rounded off or broken, but it is usally the jelly part. What happens is the jelly part keeps the male latch firmly into the receiver without it being able to be pulled up with pressure on the sides of the deck lid. You know that in order to lift the rear deck lid at this time, it either just pops up when you lift the side, or it pops up on it's own. The jelly fitting will keep the side to side motion out of the receiver and therefore it stays locked. Anyone can break into the rear deck of a 928 with enough upward force on the deck lid. It just breaks the jelly fitting when you do and that costs $100.
