Fuel comes out in a very fine mist. Make sure you are certain no fuel is coming out.

To trouble shoot your system you are going to have to do some work assuming no fuel at injectors.

The first thing I would do is disconnect one of the injectors from the fuel line and see if the fuel flows from the line. Get a jar and place the line in it. Key on and lift the sensor.

Report back. Once you start getting into this other folks will provide better data. On the up side, given you have the noise and the noise is from the engine compartment, pressure is being delivered to the fuel distributor. Your problem may not be wholesale degradation of the system.
