Men have hobbies. Women have babies.
It sounds silly, but a male friend of mine once explained a psychological theory that men -- because they can't have give birth to a child, and overwhelm it with selfless (and even obsessive) devotion -- instead find objects (like cars) that they can devote themselves to. I don't know if I buy the theory, but any toddler would be pretty lucky to get the kind of time and attention my 911 gets. Then again, the 911 will never grow up and develop a mind of its own, deciding I'm the least cool thing on the planet, either.
