Maybe I have a bizzare wife, but she has what I would consider "hobbies". She grows orchids and roses, and spends a considerable amount of time reading catalogs and surfing the web. We have stopped at an orchid grower's farm more than once while on vacation. She also collects Craftsman and Art Deco "stuff" like art glass...spends plenty of time on eBay looking for interesting things. We will probably do a road trip up the central coast to visit some artist studios.
She puts up with my "hobbies" such as gigging as a jazz bassist once a week, and at different times, obsessing over bicycles, cars, and music gear. Other than the '87 debacle, I spend pretty much whatever I want on my stuff, although I turn things over rather than just collect more toys in an attempt to be "responsible" (ha!). I also don't ask when random boxes show up for her on our doorstep.
