the best method is to use "0000" super fine steel wool..it's amazing..then give a nice coat of rain-x..does not leave any scratches and you'll be amazed that you didn't do this before...hardly takes any pressure going over it and your glass will be "smooth as glass"..done this to all my cars and the super fine steel wool..(0000)-grade is about $5...warning..do not use anything but "0000"super fine steel wool pads---haven't ever used anything else ...also takes off paint overspray and bird sap and any other crap that's on glass
