I had a K&N in the air box when I purchased the car.
They require "oiling" on one side. The oil can cause problems withs the mass air flow sensor (MAF).
The previous owner had problems with the MAF because he oiled both sides.
I took it out and replaced it with a dry paper filter (OEM) and have never had any trouble.
