Not very usefull? It probably saves the owner more than what the car is worth each year in taxes. If you use it as a fun car to drive yourself and possibly a friend around, a few extra $K in your pocket each year becomes worth it.

Welcome to the ridiculous world of trying to put extra tax the rich to pay for government programs...By listing it as a commercial "light truck", it avoids a lot of various taxes. If its your daily driver to get around with, that is huge.
