I am trying to get things together to do a oil change on my 2001 996.

I read that I use a Audi/VW wrench on the oil canister.


I went to Advanced Auto and they are clueless as to what size I need.

I said how do you usually tell and they said we take a oil filter off the shelf and match up the wrench size. I said that won't work for me as the 996 uses a canister.

I have not owned a canister equipped engine since my 283 powered 66 Chevelle.

Can some one tell me what size wrench to buy locally so I can change the oil this weekend on the 2001 996? I would prefer getting one from a local chain parts store as I do not want to wait on ordering it.

BTW - I already have a 15 qt drain bucket and a 8MM alan socket as well as new filter and and seals from Pelican but I need a oil canister wrench.
