Why not drop back a few years and get one of the Lambo V10 engined S6 or S8s? You could pick one up for much less money than new. An RS4 would also be tempting and significantly more car than the S4 that you drove.
If you look beyond BMW or Audi, a C63 or E63 would easily fall into your price range. A CTS-V would also be very appealing, but you don't seem to like those.
Regarding the 335i, make sure you do some reading on the high pressure fuel pump failures. I don't know if they resolved the issues when they went to the single turbo configuration, but I know it was a big problem on the old twin turbos. A local BMW CCA member was stranded by his purchased new 335i four times in approximately 20,000 miles, at which point he traded it in for an X3.
