If you do go to the south rim, try to stay at one of the lodges right there on the rim.
Then you will be able to enjoy some quiet time in the early morning before the hordes
start to crowd the rim.
I have a hard time getting the experience I'm looking for at beautiful nature places when jammed in shoulder to shoulder.
