I will never use VPI AGAIN!

They are a rip off.

They just sent me a denial of coverage for a listed procedure on my golden.

I have had my golden insured with VPI since she came to our house as a puppy. VPI makes a point in their ads that they cover cancer.

The EOB shows a Spleenectomy as the primary diagnosis with her (terminal) cancer as secondary. Per their policy, spleenectomies are covered but my dogs histocytic sarcoma is not.

I called them to challenge the determination. They told me that her cancer caused the enlarged spleen and hence not covered. I pointed that that THEIR EOB had the Spleenectomy as primary diagnosis and cancer as secondary. When I pressed them to honor their treatment schedule they told me they were unable to service their customer.

I asked them if they were going to honor their schedule of benefits or did I need to just share their lack of good faith with potential customers. They chose to have me share my feelings.

There are other insurers out there. Look carefully, for me VPI is not on my list and I will tell any one who listens why.
