Ok. Hope I don't forget all my responses:
Angela- Thanks for the link. I am going to look into that.
Charlie- SC does get snow closer to the mountains but not here in the middle of the state.
RWebb- I use the term Jackson Hole because I thought everyone would realize what you pointed out. I was not set on staying in Jackson the entire trip. Someone may have a suggestion of a restaurant or thing to see in one of the other towns that Jackson Hole encompasses.
Downhill skiing will not be done. I am not that coordinated. I have only been downhill skiing once and I don't fancy having my 12 year old learn on such a large slope. We have thought of tubing as a alternative.
We like hiking as a family so renting shoe shoes or XC skis and seeing some of Yellowstone and the Tetons sounds great. The park rangers do offer guide service through some of the parks.
Dog mushing is at the top of my list of activities. That is truly an experience you can't get everywhere.
I am curious if anyone has used any of the tours through Yellowstone. There are a couple different companies to choose from that run the treaded vehicles.
