I have never had to deal with Geico, but a couple of people that I know have and this seems to be their standard practice. Always right there to take your money for a payment but not so quick to pay out on claims. but at the same time the same could be said other insurance companies as well. If the insurance company wants you to file a claim for additional damage, aren't they saying that the damage occured at the body shop? If that is the case, then the body shop should have insurance to take care of that and it should not have anything to do with you filing another claim. If all else fails,before I would pay anything else, I would call your state office that regulates insurance companies and speak to one of them. You will have to have everything documented as to who said what etc. but here in Wisconsin, the last people that the insurance company wants to hear from is the state regulatory office. Good luck.
