one of the business i own is a body shop . the run of the mill insurance CO's is not what you really want for a old car is it was stated before .
how as for your clam about pating twice for the same damage . this is not the case at all ! the damage from a hail stone is in no way the same as it is from a delam of the clear coat . if and only if your cars clear was in good shape it would not delam . there for your stuck with two claims . in no way at any time with a cars finish should the clear peal off or delam from the base coat . this would be the falt of the repaint or the fack that the clear is just no longer any good . it is not the shops falt nor is it the PDR persons falt but only the falt of the finish of the car .
because of the types of cars we work on in my shop we deal most with the specialty car insurance CO's they too would have a hard time not to charge you for the 2nd repair needed .
this may not be what you like of think is right but it's the way it is . the simple fact is a cars finish if in good shape will not delam !
the only true fix at this time is to strip off the old finish and repair and refinish the panel .
