This actually makes it sound like a fun experience. With time, some tools and a few Pelican phone numbers along the way for peace of mind, it could be a memorable "bonding" experience.

It's not uncomfortable, but could get tiring going hours on end. I like the idea of a mapped out route with frequent, interesting stops along the way. I suspect you'll meet a lot of interesting folks also. As described, it's bone simple mechanically and all in good working order.

Admittedly, I've not been encouraging Mark to drive it from here (cross-country), but from Arizona...could be pretty cool.
