A battery in a Boxster is just a battery. Buy the right physical size and amp/hours and you are good to go.
I installed an AGM sealed battery (Optima) in mine which was the finest battery I could find and even purchasing a mounting kit I didn't spend $500 or more than 15 minutes. I'll bet I could have gotten by for less than $150 if I shopped around and gotten a normal top of the line battery.
My web site has a whole list of batteries that were known to fit and I doubt that situation has changed.
