The old saying in golf, you have to play the ball as it lays, is the best parental advice I can give. The only caveat is that golf has rules, raising children does not.
All parents have expectations and desires, well intentioned characteristics we'd like our children to have. Then they are born and life happens.
I wanted a few basic moral and charter traits for my children. The rest was up to them and for me to husband.
