true. we cant have a Tree. my cats remove the ornaments, and one likes to chew the electrical cords. good times!!!
Get used to not having a tree. You ask about kids: For the first 3 Christmas trees after my son was born the ornament were only on the top half of the tree. If he could reach it, it came down. We also put 50lb dumbbells on the stand so he wouldn't pull the tree over.
