Well, if nothing else, I have a wicked drive train for that 914 autocross weapon that I have always dreamed about.
I finally got some down time at work , replaced the rear timing belt cover, the broken cam sprocket, put a new timing belt on, and spun the motor by hand a few times. Nothing felt like it was binding, and I thought I could feel each cylinder come up on its compression stroke.
Twisted the key, and walla! I would have guessed this one would have bent a few valves. I got lucky. A little bit of lifter noise, that quickly went away after a minute or so.
