Reg,

What kind of riding does she do? Sometimes, people get too caught up on equip. and the must haves. For the Sunday ride around the park just to enjoy the day, then I would say general platform pedals with a mtb cleat on one side. she can use her regular tennis shoe or a cleated shoe. If she's wants to get a little serious about the bike, then get her into some Shimano mtb pedals and their cleats. They are simple, cheap and you can walk on them (cleat is recess inside the lugs on the shoe). Make sure they are set at the lowest or very loose setting so with little effort she's out. I assume she isn't a very experience cyclist? I am always against getting a beginning cyclist all geared up with all the shoe and pedals. Once they fall, it takes all the fun out of it and they don't want to get back on again. Speed play is good too, but i think its a bit difficult to walk with them.
