I was talking with an officer friend about this the other day.
He mentioned that the cost of a uni officer in his district (with a car) costs about $110/hr.
So, I did the math for Colorado.
$110/Hr x 8hrs = $880
$880 x 180 School days a year = $158,400 per school
1,817 Public schools in Colorado =
$287,812,800 per year.
For one officer at each school.
Cherry Creek High school, where my brother's kids go to school, has an 80 acre campus.
1 guy isn't going to help a whole heck of a lot.
Seems to me that $287.8M could be better spent.

That's great, but if you look at the statistics, violent crime in schools is almost non-existent
in general. I suppose it would be interesting to compare your statistics vs. the rest of the country to see what it looks like.
