It is just that the 928 was hated by some at the time but that is all changing as Porsche builds SUVs and 4 doors now which make the 928 a real Porsche by comparison.
When Hemming's Staff is starting to respect the 928, means it is already happening as hundreds of thousands will read the article.
Hemming's also seems to recommend buying the automatic, saying it suits the car well.

Hemming S&E always speak favorably of the 928. The editor is a fan. He's contacted me to discuss early 928s.
Talking about collector status may not make it happen, but writing interesting articles about the "cult of the 928", and getting published, sure wouldn't hurt.
