here is another one
when I bought my 911 the airbox straps were shot
two new straps would run about $50 with shipping
I didn't want to spend money on something the would just rot out again in a few years so I went to the hardware store and bought two 6" long and about .5" dia tension springs and four key chain rings and made two steel straps that I'll never have to replace. They're on the car right now as good as when I put them on 8 years ago. I think I spent less than $4
(mods: please don't ban me for posting this alternate fix, hehe, I did spend a nice grand when I did my clutch on my 944, and the clutch is still working perfectly
