The 996 turbo motor is a Fuhrmann or 911 motor so the lower surface of the case will be close to the correct fitment. The issue will be the shape of the exhaust and the shape of the tiptronic tranny that must be supported.
At minimum have an assistant and a few blocks of wood to fit in place to fit in place when lowering it. The beauty of the later models is they can be dropped straight down or the veh lifted straight up so you can use a platform type of lift.
So much easier if you have a car lift. Just support the motor & trans & raise the car straight up.

Edit: Now that I have looked at the tool described above, I think not. Too many differences with turbos & exhaust & ducting, etc. Also the pivot point for this tool is too far back. The balance point of the 996 turbo motor & tiptronic trans is a few ins to the front.
Better to keep the motor & trans level. For a similar price, Harbor Freight tools sells just such a lift. Other Pelicans have used this with success. Len
