We bought my daughter a used FJ four years ago. Very capable, roomy with surprisingly good on and off road manners.
Zero issues to date.
Aftermarket parts and upgrades are readily available.
Nothing about the truck I don't like except the gas mileage.
Concerning the OPs question, I would look at a four door pick-up. I love mine.
