Blaupunkt LED display repair
Hi all; I have been having a huge wrestling match with my used Blaupunkt SQR 46 Reno. I bench tested it and found out it worked by hooking the following wires together:
1. Switched power to constant power hooked together and attached to the red power lead of a battery charger.
2. Brown or black ground lead to the negative side of the charger.
Switched on the radio and lights came on but very very dim LED. Opened the radio and saw a small bulb like thingy that sits on a little pc board right behind and in the center of the LED. Pull the little bulb out of its two prong socket and replace it with a yellow 12volt LED (two prong). The result was a beautiful amber, functioning backlit amber display. Dont throw the SQR radios away because the LED doesnt work. You can get the LED's at Radio Shack for $3. Let me know how this works for you!
