I have Rhode Island antique plates, $10 per year, no inspection or emission required. They have pretty severe driving limitations but I drive mine every day during the summer and have never been stopped. You're only supposed to drive the car to parades, car shows or to the repair shop. If I ever get stopped I'll just tell the cop that I'm on my way to the shop! I'd love to paint an old 356 over the silly Model T on the plate.
