Hi all,you guys have it great in the US for rego, here in Queensland, Australia I pay $886.00 Au ($930.00 Us) per year to keep my 69 Targa on the black stuff, only way out is to join a car club here, stipulations are
Must have been registered as club member for minimum 12 months
Car must be over 30 years old.
Can only drive to club events(no workshops, fuel etc...)and must apply AND display permit for club run.
A letter from club president (who is registered with the Transport dept.) after 12 months (no driving the car in that time frame on club rego)stating your 12 month membership completion to apply at transport Dept for club rego.($450.00 Au for 1 year)
Yes they have made it so hard that you give in and pay standard rego cost above.
Oh you must attend EVERY car club meeting in the first 12 months to comply ,and to top it all off the only car club here that is recognised by the transport Dept is the ALL AMERICAN CAR CLUB and does not accept membership from any other make, you would think that my 911 is LHD and imported from the USA would make some headway,No Go,I can`t blame them to want to keep it that way ,beatiful car collection. So give a thought for us Aussies getting slugged every which way to keep a car on the road.
Regards BL Oz
