If im not mistaken, the lines aft of the firewall run into a heat exchanger of sorts which is mounted in the housing that holds the valves to control air flow. You could remove that unit but then you would lose your heat which would not be good. The compressor and stuff forward of the fire wall makes up the bulk of the wight and thus the performance you will gain will come from removing that stuff more than what lies behind the fire wall.
