The California DMV is planning on starting a "Legacy License Plate" program in which you can get plates that look like the originals, even blue plates. They need 7500 applicants by Jan 1, 2015 in order to implement the program. Check it out.

Also, anyone here know how to check to see if a genuine old plate is still valid in terms of number/letter combo? That would be for the Year of Manufacture program. I have a pair of 1947 plates I want to sell.
