I like driving 944s that have same size tires front and rear. The stock staggered sizes on the 951 induce mild understeer, yet the cars are more fun at the limit with neutral handling.
225/50/16s on all four work really well with your wheels.
245/45/16 is another option, but 245 is getting wider than optimal on a 7" wheel. Plenty of guys just step up one size and go with 225/50 on the front and 245/45 on the rear.
Unfortunately, tire selection in 245/45/16 is getting pretty slim. I've got 17" wheels on my 944 to take advantage of the better tire selection available in 17" sizes.
