Yeah, the local cops over reacted a bit. But I don't think their reaction was off the charts. I do give some credence to the idea that we live in a 'post 9/11' world.
What would people say if a grad student who had went rogue had managed to smash a glider full of TNT into the plant, and damage it? You don't have to destroy the plant to to damage the confidence of a nation.
