We have some pre- '10 cars in the family. All are drivers. Have to admit, hitting 40 mph even on asphalt in a high centered, flexi and narrow wheel car is scary enough. Also been in the first production Ford 1904 model 'A' two cylinder but I can't imagine how a beast that big cubed Ford racer must have been like.
An outstanding documentary for ANY car enthusiast is Horatio's Drive - America's First Road Trip (search DVD on Amazon or PBS stream). Turned into a Winton vs. Packard race of hell across the country in 1903.
