lifting a modern car with a floor jack; @the weld seams?
seems like i do a lot of brake jobs. my tacoma is easy. i put my floor jack pretty much anywhere along the frame rails, or the rear axle.
my wife's car. not so easy. forester. i lifted it at the weld seams with jenky hunk of lumber with a slot cut into it with my chainsaw. lame.
just did my FIL's car. i grimaced and simply put the pad of the jack right on the seam. nothing bent. not the most awesome feeling.
what about that darn floor jack being in the only spot i could put jackstands under?
sunday's target vehicle is a newer hyundai santa fe. never peeked under one, so i dont know what to expect.
you guys spend $$ on the weld seam adaptors for floor jacks? this doesnt solve the jack stand problem.
suggestions?
