Wife and I bought a fully equipped Volvo V70 in 2004 with factory delivery (A wonderful experience!).

Fourteen months ago, this car was T-boned and totaled. We credit the car with saving my wife's life, so, naturally, it needed to be replaced by another Volvo.

With the insurance money we were able to purchase a 2006 bare naked Volvo XC70. A (big) step down in convenience and creature comforts. I am sure that Lucas supplied all the electrics. Many of the electronic "features" do not work and others work intermittently. We are on a reasonably tight geezer budget, so chasing down all these faults has become unacceptable. 18 mpg is not so hot, either.

We are considering a new Ford Fusion Hybrid and wonder if the safety and crashworthiness is equal to, or approximates, Volvo.
