Just returned from a vacation up in the Northwest and the rental vehicle was a 2013 Ford Fusion Hybrid.
My overall impression was positive although I did not crash it so I obviously couldn't help you with that aspect of your purchasing decision
I believe that the one major negative is the front passenger seat: it sits very low and if your SO is petite like mine, she may need a booster to be a proper co-pilot.
Re gas mileage: after 500 miles of use, I was only getting 34.1 MPH and I was taking it easy the whole time; while that is much better than my SC, it is the same as my family's MCS and Scion xD.
Would I purchase one? Probably not although I may consider it if I was in the market for that type of vehicle.
