hydraulic does not make any difference, small block chevies have had Hyd cams since the 50's but they still have flat tappets and need zddp.
If you have roller cams...as opposed to flat tappets then you do not need the zddp.
I use 20/50 year round but even when it freezes outside my engine block in the garage is usually in the mid 50's temp wise.....always warms during the day so not an issue...if it were outside I'd lower my viscosity.
