They work in the snow, on the beach and starting to see them all year round. Some guys around here have some neat blogs on adventure trips with them. Think riding frozen rivers, waterfalls and the shoreline of Lake Superior in northern Mn.
I have a couple miles on one, and they are fun. The Moonlander is kinda on the heavy side but in this class who cares.

Cool! I heard they were invented in Minnesota.
The owner says it's the most fun bike he has. He says it floats great on snow, but is an amazing plain ol' trail bike, as it has gobs of traction, and is very comfortable. It also does not require the maintenance of a suspension bike.
He'll be racing it in a fat bike class this year.
It does look fun, but his copy is way too big for me to ride to try out, and I also wonder how much of his pitch was sales vs. honest opinion.
