BTW, this the first time a Guard Transmission "powered" car has been on the podium at Daytona since 2004 when TRG won the thing outright. To have all three of the Caymans running our LSD and being able to say that GT swept the podium is point of great pride for me.
Some people are downplaying the win saying that the Caymans didn't have any competition. I disagree. They beat half the field. They beat cars entered by TRG, NGT, Muehlner, Konrad/Orbit and many of teams from the highest levels of endurance racing.
That Napleton article highlights the reliability of these little cars. Napleton had no mechanicals. BGB lost a CV axle and drove the last hour with no clutch. Bullet spent the last 2 hours without a clutch. Given the race and the company they were keeping, such amazing reliability is really impressive from the car that the mothership never wanted any of us to race.
