The article quotes Marra as saying they were given a grant by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. I dunno, maybe the employees of that agency were concerned enough to chip in themselves for this study.
My only suggestion is that they stop spending taxpayer money on these studies; we have long since run out of it.
The USFWS failed in giving them our money to do this.
